BINA AFTER BINA | MY PARK Workshop for Children / Author and coordinator: Natalija Jovanović, BINA team
IDEAS YARD BELGRADE
SHARED CITIES: CREATIVE MOMENTUM (SCCM)
At the "My Park" workshop, thirty children participated, and had the opportunity to imagine their ideal park and elements that make it, equipment, benches, greenery etc., as well as to mark their position in the public space that they share with adults. After introductory talks, the children created their own works on the subject, using the techniques of choice (pencil drawing, crayons, pens, prints, collage and similar). Work also stimulated dialogue among children, as the end result of the workshop was a joint piece, made from drawings of individual elements of equipment, an ideal park on Vračar in the eyes of children.
Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states the right of the child to take his or her opinion into account in all matters directly concerned, and one of the fundamental principles of the Convention is the right of the child to be heard. By participation, children learn to contribute to the community and be more responsible, and on the other hand, the work represents cooperation of adults and children, where the two sides work together, for a greater goal. This joint work and the exchange of information are important when making decisions at local and regional level.
Workshop is a part of the exhibition “A TABLE FOR PLATO, PLATO FOR EVERYONE”, SHARED CITIES: CREATIVE MOMENTUM (SCCM) Project, IDEAS YARD BELGRADE programme.
