WORKSHOP-LECTURE for preschool children: PLAYING IN SPACE / SPACES OF PLAY
Workshop by: Natalija Jovanović
→ Kindergarten “Skadarlija”
It is known that children are tied to their environment and that the physical environment affects them as much as social and cultural environments do. Modern architecture recognizes the importance of children’s participation in decision-making related to their life, and respects the voice of children in connection to the form and creation of their physical environment. The aim of the workshop is to familiarize children with various forms of architecture and to understand children’s perceptions of a kindergarten space. The age group participating in the project is preschool, and the workshop will be held in “Skadarlija” Kindergarten, Stari Grad. It will begin with a lecture by Natalija Jovanović concerning architecture, space and childhood spaces and with the explanation of the kindergarten map. Children will mark areas of the kindergarten that they consider important, that they love and that they do not like, explaining their reasons. After the discussion, the preschoolers will create their works on the topic and draw their imaginary kindergarten. They would use the techniques of choice (drawing, pencil, tempera, watercolor, collage, print, etc.) on A3 size paper. Children’s works will be exhibited in the kindergarten “Skadarlija”.
