For children aged 7-15 years
Date and time: 3/11/2024, 9/11/2024, 15/11/2024 and 28/11/2024.
Place: Youth Integration Center (Children’s Shelter), Krfska 7a
Participants: Dusana Nikolić “La Villette” architecture studio for children and Tamara Šuljagić, student of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade
The workshop is based on the book “Trocoscópio” by the Portuguese author Bernardo Carvalho. It is a silent book, without words, with illustrations that represent a machine that can change the world, mixing different forms, parts of objects and beings, and bringing them back, arranging them in new and unexpected configurations.
The first part of the workshop was realized so that with the help of previously prepared, two-dimensional shapes from the book, children fantasize and design three-dimensional “sculptures”. Using different forms, objects or beings are created, which children give new life to. The task of the workshop was for the children to describe what they made and what the formed assemblies are for. The combined forms create a small city.
The goal of the workshop is to encourage children to see things from a different angle, awakening creativity and noticing the transformative power of every form.
The second part of the workshop consists of joint painting of the path in front of the Inn using the drawings made by the children as models. In this way, a pedestrian path was painted that refined the space in front of the Inn and will remind of a joint venture – how through fun, work and effort the space became more pleasant and invites to socialize.
