Participatory urban intervention project Oasis 1 has been completed! The urban space was transformed from a neglected public space into a lively, multipurpose space for the children of the Center for Youth Integration (CIM) and for the entire neighborhood. This project represents a joint effort of the students of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Belgrade and the children of CIM to find conceptual solutions for the given space. The intervention involves the creation of a public place for various activities, by forming a wooden floor, wooden planters, benches for sitting and wooden fences. With the new planting, the place has been enriched with four new trees and many different plants. A white board has been installed on the outer wall of the CIM for future cinema shows and presentations. With new equipment, a trampoline and chairs, it will be the right place for rest, play, study, nurturing nature and socializing.

“A place of fun” is a concept that combines entertainment, learning and social integration using spatial elements to connect children of different ages with their environment through sports and art. This space has been carefully designed to provide an interactive experience that encourages exploration, play and learning. Through the garden, children have the opportunity to develop into the world of art, ecology and recycling and develop a sense of responsibility towards nature “(from student work).

Belgrade Urban Oases is a project of EUNIC Serbia, Belgrade International Week of Architecture (BINA), University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture and Forestry, Center for Youth Integration (CIM) and Center for Accommodation and Daycare for Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities.
