In collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Serbia and the City of Basel, the Association of Architects of Belgrade and BINA – Belgrade International Architecture Festival – proposes an Urban Laboratory – a platform for vibrant dialogue and exchange between architects, decision-makers, researchers, and the wider public from Serbia, Switzerland and beyond.
The Urban Laboratory is designed to spark forward-looking conversations on the future of cities. It will explore shared challenges and opportunities in architecture and urban development, while strengthening professional and institutional. Bringing together leading actors – including the Association of Architects of Belgrade, the City of Basel, the City of Belgrade, the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture, and ETH Zurich – the initiative creates a dynamic framework for collaboration across disciplines and borders.
Through inspiring discussions and the exchange of concrete case studies, the event will highlight different perspectives on key themes such as the relationship between the city and nature, the evolving role of architects in society, and the revitalisation of architectural heritage.
The Urban Laboratory will offer a unique opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and foster knowledge transfer and peer learning between Serbian and Swiss actors – laying the groundwork for lasting partnerships and future collaboration.
The dialogue will continue on a second day with a hands-on programme, featuring a guided tour and panel discussion at the iconic Genex Tower – offering participants a concrete and immersive perspective on the themes explored.
