The Proper Way to Evaluate Facade Mock-Up Samples

This lecture focuses on the evaluation of exterior building mock-up samples in order to assess structural integrity, material durability, and aesthetic quality. Before requesting any mock-up samples, Guardian Glass recommends that architects visit already glazed reference buildings, as this is the best way to visually inspect glass. Guardian Glass has project references for nearly its entire product portfolio available for viewing.

Key Milestones of Guardian Glass in Europe

1981: Launch in Luxembourg – Guardian entered the European market with its first international float glass plant in Bascharage. This was a major strategic risk that positioned the company between the industrial centers of France and Germany.

1984: Expansion into the Iberian Peninsula – The company acquired a factory in Llodio, Spain (dating back to 1935), and transformed the old facility into a high-tech production plant.

1980s: Efficiency Revolution – Guardian not only produced glass but made it “smarter.” The company was among the first to mass-produce Low-E (low-emissivity) glass using advanced magnetron sputtering technology, significantly changing the way buildings retain heat.

1990s – Present: Expansion Eastward – The company expanded aggressively into the markets of Germany, Hungary, and Poland, where it built some of the most technologically advanced glass production furnaces in the world.
