This program section is developed within the thematic framework URBAN CROSSOVER: HOPES AND FEARS, in collaboration with the selected LINA fellows Nami Gradolí Giner, Walaa Hajali, and Lisa van Heyden & Enno Pötschke. The fellows will present their insights into growing global turbulence, environmental risks, and rising anxiety as manifested in contemporary cities. Through essays and lectures, they will explore topics such as climate extremes, environmental injustice, urban uncertainties, vulnerabilities, aging, marginalization, ecology, and the politics of comfort, considering their impact on dependency, isolation, autonomy, as well as creativity, adaptability, and resilience. The Belgrade context complements these themes, offering new perspectives, contrasts, and experiences of potential socio-technical change, conceived as a crossover between different urban contexts and disciplines. Through multilevel considerations, emerging urban narratives, recent urban practices, and unconventional approaches, LINA@BINA (re)defines the interplay between the ecology of fear and the ecology of hope in shaping desired futures. Grounded in sustainable transition, green economy, social equity, and safety, these new ideas empower transformations that affect spaces, society, technology, and the environment.
