→ The Palace “Serbia”, Boulevard of Mihajlo Pupin 2
The building of the Federal Executive Council is one of the most representative achievements of post-war architecture in Belgrade and Yugoslavia. It was officially opened in 1961 on the occasion of the First Conference of Non-Aligned Countries in Belgrade. It has been the venue of important political events during its fifty years long history. Its construction started according to the design project created by architects Vladimir Potočnjak, Anton Ulrich, Zlatko Neumann and Dragica Perak which had won the first prize in 1947. However, it was finalised according to the design done by Mihailo Janković and the architectural studio “Stadium”. This marked the triumph of the modernist conception in the Yugoslav architecture. History of this building shows all the complexity of the ruling political, cultural and social circumstances in the region. Its unique interior design with numerous works of fine and applied arts, which are an integral part of the building, turns this structure into a gallery venue of the Yugoslav twentieth-century art.
Applications are open until June 6, 2024.
